five year integrated BA LLB and a five-year BBA LLB

Christ University ADMISSIONS
Eligibility Criteria for Admission

An applicant who has successfully completed Pre-University
course or Senior Secondary School Course (‘+2’) or equivalent
such as (10+1, ‘A’ level in Senior School Leaving Certificate
Course) from a recognized University/Institution of India or
outside or from Senior Secondary Board or equivalent,
constituted or recognized by the Central or State Government/s
of India or from any equivalent institution from a foreign
country recognized by the Government of that Country for the
purpose of issue of International qualifying certificate
equivalent to 10+2 on successful completion of the course, may
apply for and be admitted into the course

The minimum percentage of marks in qualifying examination
shall not be below 45% of total marks in case of general
category applicants and 40% of total marks in case of SC and ST

The maximum age for seeking admission is limited to twenty
years in case of general category of applicants and to twenty two
years in the case of applicants from SC, ST and st other
backward communities as on 1 June, 2014.

There is a Writ Petition pending at the Supreme Court of India
regarding the maximum age limit prescribed for admission and
the same will be subject to the status/condition/the final
judgment by the court, on the date of admission.


The applicant who has passed the prescribed minimum
qualification in a single sitting st th examination without having
basic qualification (1 to 9 std. of schooling) is not eligible for
admission to 5 yr. LL.B. Law courses of KSLU, Hubli.

Admission Procedure

Admission to the course shall be made strictly on the basis of
the merit taking in to account total marks obtained in the

qualifying examination. Provided that while making admission
to the course reservation policy of the Government of
Karnataka governing admission to higher educational
institutions issued from time to time shall be applied.


● No College or Department of Studies in Law authorized
to impart education in the B.A., LL.B., degree course
shall admit not more than 60 students in one division.
● The University shall reserve the right to prescribe the
number of divisions in each Law College or the
Department of Studies in Law.

Admission Procedure

Candidate seeking admission to the Five year B.A., LL.B.,
degree course and those admitted to such course shall pay the
tuition and other fees as prescribed by the University from time
to time


● Candidates seeking admission to the Five year B.A.,
LL.B., degree course shall have to attend 10 Semester
courses spread over 5 years. In each Semester, the
student shall have to study the courses prescribed by
the University in these Regulations.
● The course descriptions shall be, as set out from time to
time, in the Schedule.

Medium of Instruction

The medium of Instruction in the Five year B.A., LL.B., degree
course shall be English. However, the students shall have the
option to answer the question paper in the examination either
in English or in Kannada.


No student shall be permitted to appear for the end-of-
Semester examination in a given course unless he/she has, to
the satisfaction of the course teacher, fulfilled the course
requirements and has put in not less than 70% attendance in
the course concerned. Provided that a student who has attended
not less than 65% of classes in each subject prescribed may be
permitted to keep the term for reasons to be recorded in writing

and to the satisfaction of the Principal of the college or the Dean
of the Faculty as the case may be.

Promotion Against Lateral Entry and Exit

There shall be no lateral entry on the plea of graduation in any
subject or exit by way of awarding a degree splitting the
integrated double degree course, at any intermediary stage of
integrated double degree course


● No student shall be promoted to the next year of the
course unless he/she has passes a minimum of two
subjects in each semester.

entire course within eight years from admission to the

Award of the Degree

A Student shall be eligible for the award of the B.A., LL.B.,
(Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws) Degree after he/she
has successfully completed all the prescribed courses in all the

Semesters and provided his or her character and conduct are
found to be satisfactory during the course.

Award of Difficulty

If any difficulty arises in giving effect to the provisions of this
Regulation the Vice Chancellor may by order of notification do
anything which appears to him necessary for the purpose of
removing the difficulty. Every such order so notified shall as
soon as may be after his notification, be laid before the
Academic Council and Syndicate for approval.

Repeal and Savings Clause

● Any Regulation existing hereinbefore governing the
B.A., LL.B., Course stand repeated.
● Any action, decision or direction taken or directed by
the University under any Rule or Regulation in force at
any time earlier than this Regulation coming into force,
shall be valid, binding on the institutions and remain in

force notwithstanding anything contained in this

Legum Baccalaureus or Bachelor in Laws is an undergraduate 3
or 5 year professional degree course that allows a person to
practice law. The degree is offered for 3 years for graduates and
5-year for students who wish to pursue law after senior
secondary examination.

Bar Council of India (BCI) is the regulatory body of Legal
Education in India. Both, holders of 3 and 5-year degree are
eligible for enrolment with the Bar Council of India upon
fulfilment of eligibility criteria.

In the early days, the career in Law was confined only to
legislative executives and judicial services. But now the
opportunities are diversified and ample opportunities are
available in the fields like media, intellectual property rights,
information technology, data protection. Apart from this, Law

The classroom environment affects the learning and grasping
process of students. Keeping this in mind, the classrooms are
spacious with comfortable seating and ventilation

BMS College of Law continues to provide innovative and
experimental methods to help students get transformed into a

The College has one of the oldest libraries in Banglore. The
college boasts a collection of 18000 updated books and
journals. It has access to national and international journals
which includes American Jurisprudence, Halsbury Laws, All
England Law Reports, International Law Reports, and
Commonwealth Law Reports. Library is automated with
integrated library automation Software OPAC for a fine reader
experience. The Reading room is provided with internet
connection through LAN and WiFi.

4. Computer lab

The library hosts computer lab. The lab is well furnished and
equipped with computers and internet connection. Students
can access the digital library and other study materials from the
computer lab.

5. Auditorium

The college provides ICT enabled, well-furnished Auditorium
with a seating capacity of 200.

6. Sports Complex

The BMS College of Law provides a wide range of sports,
recreation and leisure activities for students, staff, and faculty.
The primary goal is to stimulate the growth, development, and
retention of students in a safe environment that develops
fitness and wellness, social interaction and leadership

in various college, university and State level tournaments.
Students are trained by professional coaches as well.

The college offers various facilities for indoor and outdoor
games. The sports activities include Chess, Carom, Badminton,

7. Hostel

To accommodate the demand of non-localite applications
received, the College provides hostel facility for both boys and
girls. With students from different languages and culture
coming together, the hostel provides exposure to living in the
community. The hostels are with single sharing or twin sharing,
fully furnished rooms. The facilities available in hostel include
water heater, RO Drinking water, Power Backup, Washing
Machine, TV Lounge, Volleyball court, Indoor games, Multi
Gym, Reading room, Lift, 24/7 wifi facility. Every room is fully
furnished with wardrobe, cot, study table, chair, overhead book
cabinet. Considering safety, CC TVs are installed. The mess has
a centralized kitchen and a separate dining hall for boys and
girls. Menus for each month is decided by the hostelites. The
menu includes special food on all important festivals.


A Cafeteria is a place where students of all courses interact with
each other and enjoy good food. After long classes at college,
students feel lethargic and seem a little withdrawn from studies
and have fun. The Cafeteria at the campus comprises of
refreshments and suppers accessible at reasonable rates.
Understanding the importance of good health and its role to
build a healthy mind the cafeteria is well maintained and
hygienic with a variety of food items to choose from. Along with

the canteen, there are two small cafes with snacks and
tea/coffee available.

9. Bank

A branch Bank of Allahabad is situated in the college campus
premises. Students can open a “Student account” in the bank
for various transactions of payment of fees, money transfer, and
withdrawal etc. An ATM kiosk is also available near the bank.

10. Gym

The sports complex has full-fledged multi-gym. Trainers are
available all the time at the gym to train and guide the students.

Placement plays an important role in students academics. In-

The Moot Court Committee is a student panel bestowed with
the duty of overseeing mooting activities and maintaining high
standards of excellence. Mooting can best be simulated as the
nearest experience to one fighting in the court of law while still
in college. Moot Court hall of the college imitates a real court
hall giving the students “A trial before the trial”.

The moot court committee of the college provides training to
transform the students into valuable law professional. The main
objective of the committee is to promote and equip students
with the required skill set in research and advocacy.

The committee is responsible for organizing moot court
training and competitions. The students are provided with

The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in its order vide CA
887/2009 has held ragging to be a heinous crime and has
further issued guidelines for setting up a central crisis hotline
and anti ragging database. In accordance with the orders, Christ
University constituted the anti-ragging committee with the sole
intention of eradicating ragging from the society.

Anti ragging committee of Christ University aims to ensure a
bully-free campus. The committee strives to develop a friendly
atmosphere between senior and junior students in the college
by organising various awareness programs. The forum is open
to all type of complaints and redressal is provided in
accordance with stipulated guidelines.

In pursuance of guidelines issued by Supreme Court, UGC and
as per the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at
Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act, 2013,
Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell (Internal Complaints Committee)
named “ Samskruthi ” is reconstituted to provide for the
effective enforcement of the basic human rights of gender
equality and guarantee against sexual harassment and abuse,
and to provide conducive atmosphere in the campus, to all the
staff members, employees and students of BMSCL.

The objectives of the Committee:

● To prevent sexual harassment by promoting gender
amity among staff, students and other employees.
● To deal with cases of sexual harassment in a time
bound manner, aiming at ensuring support services to
