Copy animations between objects

I have a parent object which has a few children, each child has some animation. This parent object is at a distance say (x,y,z) from the origin. I want to know how to copy the parent object and its children with their animation and place the copies object at (x1, y1, z1). I used copy function of the parent, then got children of object, and recursively copied each child and appended it to the parent using constraint. I then placed the copied object in the scene. With this logic i am able to copy an object, with its animation but the new object is always placed at the origin.

Can someone help me out here. What functions do i use.
