Remove Doubles - what was actually removed

Quite often I use "Remove Doubles" command in edit mode to clean up a mesh.
Is it somehow possible to extract the double vertices instead removing? I want to know exactly where these doubles were.

I don't know the actual way (maaybe there is), but I use this method: in edit mode when nothing is selected tap Select -> Non-Madifold. It may help - it doesn't always show the doubles, but highligts the parts where to look

Sometimes it won't work - for example, on loopcuts that were slided at maximum to another edge loop. To find them I use Select -> sharp edges, but it works even more "dirtier"
