I also would like to see a constraint on panning range in "target" mode. I'd like to prevent such things as being able to see the bottom of a ground plane or underside of a structure.
We need to think about it. For now I'd suggest to use the Hover mode which is very helpful for extended scenes such as buildings or locations, or just turn the panning off as we do for almost every of our "artistic" demo scenes.

Based on feedback from you and Brian ("trepaning") we are planning to add fields in Blender UI such as scene name and description. These data will be exported as JSON or HTML to be retrieved by an application or even by the web player.

Is the texture correctly displayed on your model in Blender? Also see the blender doc about textures

Hi Alain and Happy New Year!

Maybe a format issue? Make sure that your image is PNG, JPEG or GIF.

Looks like a catalogue. It reminds me the way our scene viewer works. It loads the text file in JSON format with scenes / models listed. This file could be loaded in other applications if needed.

As I remember our artists used transparent planes textured with lines and arrows in order to depict dimensions. We were not happy with that though. It was proposed to implement glow materials which we will use instead. This work is still in progress.

I will try the image instead of "Environment Map"; though I am still unsure why there would be a "Environment Map" option at all without being able to load something as an environment map.

Pressing "Image file" button will reveal the interface for loading an image file.

Perhaps somebody have already created the add-on for this. I'm not sure does is suit your needs. Also look here. SVGs should be possible to open with the browser.
