Project size and performance recommendations

06 April 2016 19:51
Hey all,

Just wanted to ask about performance and project size recommendations. I have the city of Providence RI in Blender finally and obviously exporting 187,000 shapes that make up the buildings to HTML is crashing. It would be great to be able to move a camera around the full city but it's looking pretty grim.

  • - How can I check for errors on a failed export?
  • - Are there any published recommendations for WebGL and or what Blend4Web should be expected to do in terms of size?
  • - Are there any resources or ideas for rending large assets (like a city)?

187,000 shapes
It's ok for Blend4Web. For example our Petigor's Tale Intro scene is about 230,000 shapes and it runs on modile diveces.

make up the buildings to HTML is crashing.
Crash may be caused by another problem. It's difficult to detect what cause a crash without a blend file. Can you share with us your project, we can find a crash reason and give you some recomendation for optimisation.
Blend4web and that kind of thing.

There are errors of different kind.
1) Python errors/bugs can be seen in a popup window and in the upper log window.

2) Critical Export Errors that prevent the export are described in a special dialog box.
